ASIA MISSIONS ASSOCIATION (AMA) -40th ANNIVERSARY
AMA was born in 1975 as a result of The All-Mission Consultation in 1973, in Seoul, South Korea. AMA has since conducted the triennial convention to promote Asia missions, and has developed an Asian church partnership to extend the vision of world mission to other continents.
AMA started with the Summer Institute of World Mission. Many world-renown mission scholars were invited as lecturers in this first missionary training session in Asia. They included men such as Dr. Donald McGavran, Dr. Ralph D. Winter, Dr. C. Peter Wagner, Dr. Peter Beyerhaus, Dr. Dale Kitzman, Dr. George Peters, Dr. Arthur F. Glasser, Dr. Wade T. Coggins, Dr. Don Blue, Dr. James F. Engel, and Dr. Wilbert Norton. During the two week session in 1973 these scholars introduced missiology to Asia for the first time.
AMA has since conducted the triennial convention to promote Asia missions, and has developed an Asian church partnership to extend the vision of world mission to other continents. The most recent conference was held in Moscow, Russia in 2003, which was a first time mission challenge for them. There were 320 delegates from 33 countries, including 14 pastors from 11 CIS countries (former Soviet Union countries) and about 160 Russian pastors (please refer the photos in Gallery).

아시아선교협의회(Asia Missions Association: AMA) 창립 40주년 기념 대회이자 제11차 대회가 10월 7일부터 11일까지 인천 송도에 위치한 뉴욕주립대학교 송도 캠퍼스에서 열립니다. "21세기 선교에 있어서의 제자도"라는 주제를 가지고 개최되는 이번 대회 아시아 각국의 교회 및 선교지도자들을 비롯해 아프리카(MANI), 중남미(COMIBAM), 북미주 선교 연합회(Mission Nexus)의 대표들과 Lausanne Movement, OMSC, US Center for World Mission 등 국제 기구들의 대표들이 참석합니다.
또한 아시아 각국의 한국 선교사 2명과 현지 선교/교회 지도자 2명씩이 초청되어 총 300명의 초청을 받은 사람들로 제한된 인원으로 치루어지게 됩니다.

DISCIPLESHIP IN THE 21st CENTURY MISSION
● COOPERATION
Cooperation, on all levels, is crucial for a successful mission. During AMA convention, we will encourage the Asian churches to support mission movement in Asia. For that effort, we will refine partnership and cooperation between the churches and mission organizations through communication, exchanging our resources, and training to create successful relationships.
● NEW MISSION MODELS
During AMA convention we will be analyzing theologies, strategies, methods and models that have been used by churches all over the world in the mission field. The aim is to measure how substantial each aspect has been in the journey of missions. As the role of non-western churches are increasing in the 21st century, we will find what the best mission model is to further facilitate the roles in Asian countries.
● DISCIPLESHIP
We will evaluate the effects of discipleship by looking at how churches around the world, especially Asian churches, have put discipleship into practice in mission fields. We recognize that we are facing new challenges as we prepare ourselves for missions in the 21st century. We will identify these challenges and see how understanding renewed discipleship models could help to overcome the struggles in the future.
