방언 기도가 아닌 방언으로 하는 기도

행2:1-8

행2:1-4 오순절 날이 이미 이르매 그들이 다같이 한 곳에 모였더니 2. 홀연히 하늘로부터 급하고 강한 바람 같은 소리가 있어 그들이 앉은 온 집에 가득하며 3. 마치 불의 혀처럼 갈라지는 것들이 그들에게 보여 각 사람 위에 하나씩 임하여 있더니 4. 그들이 다 성령의 충만함을 받고 성령이 말하게 하심을 따라 다른 언어들로 말하기를 시작하니라.

행2:6-8 이 소리가 나매 큰 무리가 모여 각각 자기의 방언으로 제자들이 말하는 것을 듣고 소동하여 7. 다 놀라 신기하게 여겨 이르되 보라 이 말하는 사람들이 다 갈릴리 사람이 아니냐 8. 우리가 우리 각 사람이 난 곳 방언으로 듣게 되는 것이 어찌 됨이냐.

1. When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. ... 6. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. 7. Utterly amazed, they asked: "Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? 8. Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language?

 

사도행전에 나타난 모든 방언에 대한 기록은 기도를 방언으로 한 것은 없다. 그들이 기도한 후, 또는 안수를 받은 후 성령을 받아 말하게 하심을 따라 방언으로 말했다.

성령의 은사로 방언을 받아 말했다. 기도가 아니다. 방언기도를 했다는 기록은 없다.

 

   -기도나 안수 후 성령을 받아 방언을 말한다고 했다(행2:4; 행19:6).

행19:6 바울이 그들에게 안수하매 성령이 그들에게 임하시므로 방언도 하고 예언도 하니

6. When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

 

  -말씀을 듣고 난 후 성령을 부어 주심으로 방언을 말했다(행10:44-46).

행10:44-46 베드로가 이 말을 할 때에 성령이 말씀 듣는 모든 사람에게 내려오시니 45. 베드로와 함께 온 할례 받은 신자들이 이방인들에게도 성령 부어 주심으로 말미암아 놀라니 46. 이는 방언을 말하며 하나님 높임을 들음이러라.

44. While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. 45. The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles. 46. For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God. Then Peter said,

 

방언으로 하는 기도

  -흔히 방언기도로 이해하고 있는 고전14:14절의 기도는 방언기도가 아니라 외국어로 하는 기도다.

고전14:13-15 그러므로 방언을 말하는 자는 통역하기를 기도할지니 14. 내가 만일 방언으로 기도하면 나의 영이 기도하거니와 나의 마음은 열매를 맺지 못하리라 15. 그러면 어떻게 할까 내가 영으로 기도하고 또 마음으로 기도하며 내가 영으로 찬송하고 또 마음으로 찬송하리라

13. For this reason anyone who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret what he says. 14. For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. 15. So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.

 

고린도전서에 나타난 방언의 은사

  -방언은 성령의 은사로 말하는 은사이지 기도가 아니다.

고전12:10 어떤 사람에게는 능력 행함을, 어떤 사람에게는 예언함을, 어떤 사람에게는 영들 분별함을, 다른 사람에게는 각종 방언 말함을, 어떤 사람에게는 방언들 통역함을 주시나니

To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

 

고전12:28 하나님이 교회 중에 몇을 세우셨으니 첫째는 사도요 둘째는 선지자요 셋째는 교사요 그 다음은 능력을 행하는 자요 그 다음은 병 고치는 은사와 서로 돕는 것과 다스리는 것과 각종 방언을 말하는 것이라.

And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.(KJV) and those speaking in different kinds of tongues.(NIV)

 

  -사람의 방언(외국어)과 천사의 말(영적 언어, 하늘언어)

고전13:1 내가 사람의 방언과 천사의 말을 할지라도 사랑이 없으면 소리 나는 구리와 울리는 꽹과리가 되고. If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.

 

고전13:8 사랑은 언제까지나 떨어지지 아니하되 예언도 폐하고 방언도 그치고 지식도 폐하리라

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

 

고전14:2-6 방언을 말하는 자는 사람에게 하지 아니하고 하나님께 하나니 이는 알아 듣는 자가 없고 영으로 비밀을 말함이라 3. 그러나 예언하는 자는 사람에게 말하여 덕을 세우며 권면하며 위로하는 것이요 4. 방언을 말하는 자는 자기의 덕을 세우고 예언하는 자는 교회의 덕을 세우나니 5. 나는 너희가 다 방언 말하기를 원하나 특별히 예언하기를 원하노라 만일 방언을 말하는 자가 통역하여 교회의 덕을 세우지 아니하면 예언하는 자만 못하니라 6. 그런즉 형제들아 내가 너희에게 나아가서 방언으로 말하고 계시나 지식이나 예언이나 가르치는 것으로 말하지 아니하면 너희에게 무엇이 유익하리요

2. For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit. 3. But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort. 4. He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. 5. I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may be edified. 6. Now, brothers, if I come to you and speak in tongues, what good will I be to you, unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or word of instruction?

 

고전14:18-23 내가 너희 모든 사람보다 방언을 더 말하므로 하나님께 감사하노라 19. 그러나 교회에서 네가 남을 가르치기 위하여 깨달은 마음으로 다섯 마디 말을 하는 것이 일만 마디 방언으로 말하는 것보다 나으니라 20. 형제들아 지혜에는 아이가 되지 말고 악에는 어린 아이가 되라 지혜에는 장성한 사람이 되라 21. 율법에 기록된 바 주께서 이르시되 내가 다른 방언을 말하는 자와 다른 입술로 이 백성에게 말할지라도 그들이 여전히 듣지 아니하리라 하였으니 22. 그러므로 방언은 믿는 자들을 위하지 아니하고 믿지 아니하는 자들을 위하는 표적이나 예언은 믿지 아니하는 자들을 위하지 않고 믿는 자들을 위함이니라 23. 그러므로 온 교회가 함께 모여 다 방언으로 말하면 알지 못하는 자들이나 믿지 아니하는 자들이 들어와서 너희를 미쳤다 하지 아니하겠느냐.

18. I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you. 19. But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue. 20. Brothers, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be adults. 21. In the Law it is written: "Through men of strange tongues and through the lips of foreigners I will speak to this people, but even then they will not listen to me," says the Lord. 22. Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is for believers, not for unbelievers. 23. So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and some who do not understand or some unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind?

 

고전14:26-27 그런즉 형제들아 어찌할까 너희가 모일 때에 각각 찬송시도 있으며 가르치는 말씀도 있으며 계시도 있으며 방언도 있으며 통역함도 있나니 모든 것을 덕을 세우기 위하여 하라 27. 만일 누가 방언으로 말하거든 두 사람이나 많아야 세 사람이 차례를 따라 하고 한 사람이 통역할 것이요.

26. What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church. 27. If anyone speaks in a tongue, two or at the most three should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret.

 

고전14:39 그런즉 내 형제들아 예언하기를 사모하며 방언 말하기를 금하지 말라.

Therefore, my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues.
